Our Coffee and Faith-Sharing group has decided they want to meet more than once a month. The group will meet on the 4th Sunday every month.

Anyone interested is welcome to join the group at Cafe Verde, across the street from the Corte Madera Community Center, for lunch and a discussion about Rev. Mary’s Sunday talk that day, or the theme of the month, or both.

August SF-Marin Food Bank Service

Time:
-

Our next opportunity to serve at the food bank is coming up on Tuesday, August 12th from noon to 2 pm. Our volunteer food bank service at the San Rafael warehouse usually consists of packing food so that it can be transported to distribution centers near the neighborhoods where this food is most needed.

To participate on the August team, contact Ellen Nicoia, our coordinator, by email at ellennicosia@gmail.com or text her at 415.720.0225 with your interest and contact info by August 5th so that she can let the food bank know who is coming.. We have a specific number of slots available and volunteers fill them on a first-come, first-served basis.

Let’s keep our participation flowing and abundant!

Summer Picnic

Time:
-

This year our summer picnic will be held on the patio at CMCC following the Sunday Celebration on Sunday, August 10th. We’re choosing to do it there, rather than out on the grounds as we have in the past, so that all of our congregation can come. Some of our folks are less steady on their feet than they once were, and this will make it possible for them to attend and be a part of the event. Everyone will already be parked, with their food onsite, and that will make the entire process easier.

We will be able to grill as usual, because CMCC has a grill onsite that we can use, and we’ve also asked to use their shade tent in case of hot weather. So think about what you want to bring, and prepare to enjoy a fun afternoon together right there! Sign up sheets will be available next Sunday for the potluck items you wish to bring to share.

Celebration of Life For Rev, Lloyd Strom

Time:
-

Many of our longterm members will remember Lloyd Strom who created a vast body of work through NovaTech MinistriesReligious Science QuickStart, Financial Freedom, and more teaching materials with the late Rev. Dr. Marcia Sutton, one of our former ministers at GGCSL.

Rev. Lloyd made his transition on May 25th at age 80. His Celebration of Life will take place at the Valley Memorial Cemetery in Novato, on Monday, August 4th at 10 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, or to Christ Church of Co-Creation.

Town Hall Meeting

GGCSL will have a Town Hall meeting to update you on the current news from GGCSL and to gather your thoughts about our activities and classes. This won’t be a long meeting, and snacks and coffee will be available as usual. We’ll also set up a Zoom connection for any of our congregants who’ll be away or are out of area and want to stay up-to-date on the latest news.
